THIRTEENTH ANNUAL NATIONAL BLACK HERSTORY AWARDS BANQUET 2010 Award Honorees Announced Atlanta, GA – February 11, 2010 - The Thirteenth Annual National Black Herstory Awards
Banquet will be held Saturday Evening, March 27, 2010, 6:30 pm at The Loudermilk Center Ballroom in Downtown Atlanta, GA.
The 2010 honorees are Ms. Angela Robinson, Host of the PBA 30 television program “In-Contact,”
Dr. M. Bahati Kuumba, Associate Director of the Women’s Research and Resources Department, Spelman College, Twanda Black,
Public Affairs Director and Radio Host for Cox Radio Kiss 104.1 FM, Ms. Lucy Walker, Founder, Denver’s EDEN Theatrical
Workshop, Mr. Derrius Quarles, Scholar and Student, Morehouse College and Mrs. Gwendolyn Keyes-Fleming, District
Attorney DeKalb County, GA,. Posthumous Comrade Salute Awards will be presented to celebration the
legacies of the late greats Mrs. Frances Pauley, Queen Mother Audley E. Moore and Dr. John Hope Franklin. Certificates
of Appreciation will be presented to Margarita and John Anderson co-founders of The Empowerment Experiment (EE), and Ms. Njere
Alghanee, WRFG Radio Host and, National Co-Chair for N ‘Cobra. The winner of the Cora A. Presley
Global Outreach Award for Best Paper will be announced that evening. Angela Harrington Rice, Producer and Host of AIBTV’s
“A Women’s Place” will be the Mistress of Ceremonies with April Crawley, Ms. Black Georgia USA presenting
the occasion. Reginald “The Voice” Dancil, Giwayen Mata All Female Drummers and Dance Troupe and Drop Entertainment
will provide the music.
The Awards Banquet will be presented at the conclusion of the Thirteenth Annual
National Black Herstory Conference which will be held on the campus of
Emory University on Friday afternoon, March 26, 2010. The National
Black Herstory Task Force, Inc. (NBHTF), host of this event is an award winning nonprofit cultural and educational organization
providing vehicles to celebrate, collect and chronicle the legacies and lives of women of African Descent and their alliances
worldwide. Emory University’s Center for Women has co-sponsored this event each year during the month of March
in honor of Women’s History and National Black Herstory Month. ###
